2008 Sandy River Steelhead Report 3

Nice first week of April! I was only on the river twice this week. The first day we had a very bright sunny day and could only manage one grab. The very next day it was dark, cloudy, and wet. We moved three fish to the fly in the first spot and none were hooked. The next run we landed three wild fish! Next spot we finished the day with a hot chrome hen! Once the rain came the fish really moved into some of my favorite holding water. With the sunny days the fish have been really deep and hard to get to. I love those overcast rainy days. Big dark flies have been working best on these cloud cover days. Bright flies have been doing the trick when the sun pops out. I recommend the Metal Detector only found here or check out this selection of Winter Steelhead Flies!
Enjoy a few photos from this last week.
