Winter Steelhead 

January 9, 2007 Sandy River Steelhead Field Report:

	You will not want to miss this! www.nativefishsociety.org Little Creek Outfitters has donated a very special trip this year at the Native Fish Society Banquet!  You will be bidding on an opportunity to do a 2 night 3 day float down a very secluded section of the John Day River on November 5,6,7. Prime time for the Wild Steelhead run! Special guest Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia's founder, and Bill Bakke, NFS's founder, will be joining the winning bidder on this trip with you and your guest!
The Sandy and Clackamas rivers have fresh winter steelhead starting to show in good fishable numbers. Us guides, have been out doing some research and development. Thats me in the photo above and Josh Linn in the photo to the right. Like last year we have had high waters that have only allowed a few days of quality fishing. The Sandy has had lots of sand fill in many of the good holding runs but we are still hooking a few. The Clackamas has had better conditions so far and our success rate has been better there. As soon as the rivers stabalize into constant flows we should see Winter Steelheading as good as it comes! Now is the time to call us!
